Welcome to notMYkid
The challenges kids and families face today are complex and have the potential to devastate lives and derail futures. It is extremely important to work together to protect the kids in our community. The average age a child will first try drugs is 13. Studies indicate that people who reach 21 without engaging in destructive behaviors are likely to never do so, which is why we passionately educate about current trends, warning signs and the long-term impact of destructive behaviors. We believe proactive prevention on the part of kids, families and communities is the answer to long-term success.
Keeping our kids from starting to use drugs is a parental responsibility. As parents, we are in the best position to protect our kids from buying in to the prevalent culture of drug use, particularly on 420 or Saturday, April 20th. Parents need to become better educated about the biggest day of the year for your kids to get high.
Did you know …
April 20 (4/20) has evolved into a counterculture holiday, where people gather to celebrate and consume cannabis.
The use of the term began among a group of teenagers in San Rafael, CA in 1971 when the group would meet at the campus statue of Pasteur to smoke pot.
420 became code for a time of day to get high and a way of talking about it in front of parents without their knowledge.
Everyday thousands of teens say “yes” to drugs for the first time. Help your teen say “NO”
Consider making family plans for the evening of 420.

Talk to your kids today about home drug testing as a way “out” with their friends.
Give your kids a real way to say “no, I can’t smoke that because my parents will find out.” As parents we have the opportunity to shoulder more of the peer pressure our kids are under. They will thank us later for providing love, guidance and boundaries.
